Initially I sat down attempting to write this post in a poetic, thoughtful way. I was trying to explain how my daughters inspire me on a regular basis, how these photos show why I’m passionate about capturing the “everyday,” how the the imagination of a toddler is incredible, etc. But, as much as I was trying to be deep, all that kept popping in my head to go with these pictures was the image of Will Ferrel’s Etch a Sketch to do list in the movie Elf. It was probably the combo of snow angels and hot chocolate that made me go there, but either way, it made me laugh. And after a really long winter that just won’t quit, writing something funny that may bring a little sunshine to someone’s day seemed more appropriate.
So, this is how I imagine Lily’s to do list to have looked on Monday:
- have a pants optional hot chocolate party
- do my best “mom drinking her first cup of coffee in the morning” impersonation
- finger paint with chocolate so mom can create portraits that resemble the Grapes of Wrath
- eat snow, think it’s disgusting, but eat it again just because
- make snow angels while it’s still snowing, so I can eat more snow while doing that
- put on bathing suit, convince mom that opening umbrellas in the house won’t bring bad luck, relax at the beach
- craft sailboat out of umbrella, beach towel, and balloon: pile friends in it for an ocean adventure and pray the boat doesn’t snap
- celebrate the arrival to the island by hip hop dancing with intensity
stefanie - these are so cute!!! i especially appreciate the hip hop dancing 🙂
Maggie - My favorite post yet. I love her big personality!
Dori - Beautiful day! Such inspirtation. I wish I could do it all over again with my children. Sad news, you don’t get that time back, but the good news is I have a grandchild to make and share those beautiful moments. Thanks for capturing them and sharing with us Lindsey!!
