Confession: I haven’t had a professional portrait taken of me and my girls in almost two years. And the last time it was by accident. I had taken the girls to visit Santa, but they were so petrified of even being near him that the incredibly kind and talented photographer, Cat Thrasher, let me sit in his seat instead. I absolutely love that picture, and every time I see it I think “I really need to schedule a full portrait session with her.” Then the reality of prioritizing budgets and time gets in the way….and it’s almost two years later, without any quality images that prove I actually exist as their mommy!
That above scenario led to this thought: how funny is it that every year, just like me, hundreds of moms on tight budgets and limited time pay for their little ones to have pictures taken with Santa. The moms without any professional portraits of them with their babies will take the time and money to have pictures done with a stranger in a big red suit. Seems a little crazy, right? So I thought, “Would we do things differently if someone offered a quick, affordable session with Mom as the star instead of Santa?”
I had that idea on Wednesday, loved it, and then realized I had no space to actually hold such an event. Whomp whomp. But never one to doubt divine intervention, I prayed about it…and on Thursday morning got an email about Cat’s fabulous new studio and how one could rent the space! (Thank you, God.) I contacted her immediately, booked the space for Mother’s Day morning, and can now make the official announcement:
It’s time for you all to realize you’re way more important than Santa, and you deserve to be in front of the camera! So, on Mother’s Day, for the same amount of money and time you’d spend for your children to sit with that guy once a year, YOU get to be the spotlight of the show.
Ten minutes, ten images in an online gallery for proofing/ordering, and one 5 x 7 of your choice is included in the low price of $40.
