Typically I wouldn’t say the goal of an engagement session is to have a group of different scenarios happen all within the course of an hour. But when you naturally have the opportunity to work in horses, donkeys, trains, hammocks, tire swings, barns, geese, and childhood country homes…then you take advantage of that.
When Karis mentioned the possibility of having her and Drew’s engagement session at her family’s country home, I did a little happy dance. How awesome for the couple to be comfortable in their own space AND have a meaningful location as the backdrop?! The funny thing is, besides meeting at the country home, we didn’t really make a plan for how the hour would go. So it was a fun surprise when, within two minutes of walking on the property, we spot a neighbor’s donkey and horse staring down at us from a hill. We stopped, the donkey came hehawing, the horse got jealous-then possessive…and from that moment on, the fun just kept coming. The best part being that Karis and Drew knew exactly how to make the most of every moment as it presented itself (insert raised hands emoji here).
