In October, I decided I was going to bypass offering traditional mini sessions and instead give families the opportunity to have me come to them and document time spent together in their home. My goal was to create a photography experience that was comfortable for everyone and allowed me to capture authentic, unique moments in addition to providing them with traditional family portraits. In short, I wanted to provide images that showed life as they knew it, unposed and unscripted.
Mary Ellen was one of the first people to jump on board, and I was ecstatic! She and her husband just so happen to be friends from high school I was hoping for an excuse to visit, and Mary Ellen is one of those kind souls that sends encouraging messages out of the blue-just when you need them-using words like emotive and beautiful to describe my work (and causing me to tear up over such a sweet gesture). I knew she totally understod what I was going for, and I couldn’t wait to capture a bit of the “day in the life” of her and her beautiful family.
So, the day of our session came, and it was in fact just as awesome as I knew it would be-filled with lots of playing/laughter/cuddles and topped off with hot chocolate and marshmallows. I think if you’ll take a moment to scroll through my many, many favorites of the day, your heart will feel just as happy as mine did spending time with this lovely bunch.
