When Heather asked if I’d be willing to follow her and Jessee to their wedding night spot for a few after wedding portraits, I was 100% on board. The Jefferson Hotel is exquisite on the inside and out, so I knew it would be amazing.
What I couldn’t have predicted, but what made this portrait session even more exciting, was just how much pedestrian interaction we would have while outside. I adore street photography but am not so brave as to take it on (something about strangers yelling at me for taking their picture that scares me). But when walking with a bride and groom down the street, all eyes were on them, and I had the joy of capturing the public’s response to seeing such a beautiful couple on their big day.
It should be noted that while every picture below is arguably my favorite, the best moment was probably when the van full of girls out celebrating a sweet 16 birthday party pulled up. They were squealing from the second they saw them, and then when Heather and Jessee graciously welcomed them over into the shot, they charged at them as if they were (insert some boy band I have no clue about here…;) Anyway, it was adorable, and I was grateful for the timing.
So here you go: an amazing couple frolicking around a fancy hotel and downtown Richmond. Fun fun fun.
Martha - I can’t look at these photos without crying! They are wonderful and embody the joy that Heather and Jessee have – fantastic pictures!
Lindsey Zovko - Thank you, Martha! Their joy is certainly contagious, and it was my treat to get to capture that!
